LETRA Information
***ATTENTION*** If you carry a weapon (gun) and will be making a Medicine Creek and/or Letra reservation, Ft Sill does not allow weapon entry unless it is for an official hunt. Weapons will need to be stored off post during your stay, and many pawn shops around post offer storage for a nominal fee. ***
Camping: LETRA is available for camping year round with several different options to include RV sites, tent camping, primitive camping and our modern cabins. For more information, please review the rental agreements.
Cabins: LETRA’s modern cabins are open year round for rent. They come in three sizes to meet your needs: small sleeps 2, medium sleeps 4, and large sleeps 5, Plus Futon. One of our medium cabins is ADA compliant.
LINENS AND PILLOWS ARE NOW PROVIDED
The kitchen includes a fridge, microwave, coffee pot and 2-burner stove along with the needed utensils and cookware to prepare hot, steaming "camp” food! So come stay with us, watch the sunset over Lake Elmer Thomas, and Mount Scott from your front porch rocker!
**Cabin Bedding: The small cabin has a full size bed and a futon that fold out into a full size bed. The medium cabin has 2 full size beds and a futon and The large cabin has 2 full size beds, 1 twin bed, and a futon.
Water lines must be disconnected from water hydrants and hydrants must be turned off when temperatures are below 35 degrees. Rentees will be responsible for any damage incurred by not adhering to this requirement.
Recreation: LETRA is a great destination for both summer and year round recreation activities for all to include:
Summer Season: Lifeguarded beach swimming area, double flume waterslide, and paddle boat, kayak, and canoe rentals.
All Seasons: Fishing, fishing boat rentals, biking, and hiking. *Note to hikers/bikers: Check in with Sportsman Services for personal safety located in bldg '458, PunchBowl Rd., Fort Sill, OK before hiking/biking. Call 580-442-3453/3553 for more information.
Country Store: The Country Store offers many camping and recreational items for your stay at LETRA. The store is stocked with a variety of items to include drinks, snacks, food, fishing tackles, apparel, and other forgotten personal items. Rentals are done directly out of the store.
Archery range: The archery range features an elevated 2-tier shooting platform. "It is another way families can enjoy the outdoors and exercise together,” said Sheikh. "It will also be useful for local schools teaching shooting sports and clubs who want to try archery. Patrons will need to bring their own bow to use the archery range.”
Group Use Areas: LETRA has several group use areas that are available for rental throughout the year that are ideal for parties, unit and organization functions, reunions, etc. Sizes and prices vary on location.
The Lodge: The Lodge is available to rent for parties, unit and organization functions, reunions, etc.
Miniature Golf: Come and enjoy our 18-hole golf course. Games only cost $4 and can be purchased at our Country Store.
Playgrounds: There are several playground structures located throughout the park with a variety of sizes and age recommendations.
Fishing: Come on out and test your fishing skills or just have some fun. There are three different species of fish found in our lake. A valid Oklahoma State Fishing license is required and can be acquired online at http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/license.htm.
Watercraft rentals: Canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, bass boats and our pontoon boat are all available to rent. A valid boater safety card or certificate is required when renting our bass boats or pontoon. To rent these items, stop in at the Country Store.
Bathhouses: LETRA has 3 bathhouses for use throughout the park. The RV Park bathhouse includes bathrooms, a showering facility, and a laundry facility open all year. The Beach House has a bathroom and showering facility, which is only open when the beach is open. The westside of the park by the playgrounds has a bathroom facility.
Laundry: There is a 24-hr, coin operated laundry facility located in the RV Park bathhouse.
Drones: Since the Ft. Sill area is a no-fly zone, drones are NOT ALLOWED at LETRA.
PLEASE NOTE: Swimming is not possible on Mondays and Tuesdays. The beach and general store are both closed on these days.
MEDICINE PARK AQUARIUM
The mission of the Medicine Park Aqurium is conservation through education – bringing people, nature and science together in a fun and interactive experience. This unique eco-tourism attraction has over 90 native and non-native fish, reptile and amphibian species on exhibit with mammals coming soon. We also have a seven-acre botanical garden featuring many plants native to the area. The Aquarium is just a few minutes away from LETRA on Highway 49, just before the entrance to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.

PARK RULES
- § Pets are NOT permitted in the cabins or in the swimming area. Pets are permitted at all other areas at LETRA as long as folks clean up after them and keep them on a leash. (Service animals are more than welcome in the cabins.)
- § Ground fires are NOT allowed. Fires contained in an off ground pit or fires associated with grills are allowed unless a fire ban has been issued for the area.
- § Park quiet hours are from 2200-0700.
- § Any consumption of alcohol is to be in accordance with the state laws. Consumers must be 21 years of age and unit sponsored functions must get approval by the garrison commander. Alcohol is not permitted in the water or on boats.
- § Smoking is allowed in areas at least 50 ft from any building entrance . All cigarette buds should be completely distinguished and disposed of in a trash receptacle. Smoking and Vaping are not permitted on beach
- § Music is permitted in the park; however, visitors are asked to be respectful of other visitors and keep it at a volume that does not invade other visitor’s environment.
- § Swimming is only allowed at the beach area when a LETRA lifeguard is on duty.

Located 12 miles NW of the main post, LETRA can be reached by using Apache Gate on Hwy 49, Sheridan Road Gate and Key Gate off I44. Everyone that does not have a Military ID will need to get a visitors pass. You can get a visitors pass at the visitors center right outside the Sheridan Road Gate.

From I-44, take the Hwy. 62/Rogers Lane exit and head West. Exit to the right on Sheridan Road, Northbound. Enter Fort Sill and turn left at Mow-Way Road (1st light). Turn right on Tower Two Road (be cautious of the water crossing). Go approximately 4 miles and turn left on North Boundary Road. Go approximately 4 miles and LETRA will be on the right!
